Meet Svetlana — Founder of the exclusive Studio 41 Pilates

There are certain spaces you feel before you understand them — places where the pace softens, the air gets quieter, and you sense that every detail has been thoughtfully considered. Studio 41 Pilates is one of those places.

Founded by Svetlana, Studio41 Pilates is an intimate, refined pilates studio on Vesterbro, Copenhagen — devoted to classical Pilates and guided with a rare combination of precision and calm. Everything about the experience feels considered: the way you’re welcomed, the atmosphere, the rhythm of the room. It’s not about pushing harder. It’s about moving with intention — and leaving with a sense of clarity in your body.

January is a fresh start — a quiet return to the body. That’s why Svetlana felt like the perfect person to meet this month: grounded, precise, and devoted to the kind of strength you build slowly.

We’re proud that Meishai is part of her space, because Studio 41 Pilates shares our belief in conscious care — in what we put on ourselves, what we invite in, and how we move through the world.

We talked with this inspiring woman about her perspective on beauty, the role movement plays in modern life, and the small rituals that help her stay present in everything she carries.

1. What does beauty mean to you?

For me, beauty is being deeply in tune with yourself, regardless of your surroundings. It also means freedom from trends, stereotypes, and the expectations or opinions of others.

2. How and when did your interest in Pilates begin, and what drew you into this world of movement and awareness?

My relationship with movement began early. As a child, I was a professional rhythmic gymnast for many years, so body awareness and physical expression were always part of my life.

I first came to Pilates out of curiosity, but I was immediately struck by how effective the method was. After each class, I felt as if I had re-entered my body. That feeling grew in me.

The more I practiced, the less sense my corporate career made. Eventually, I made the decision to fully change direction and applied for a teacher training programme. I was fortunate to train with some of the best Pilates instructors in the world, who shaped my understanding and appreciation of the method.

3. What inspired you to open Studio 41 Pilates, and what was your vision for the studio when you first started?

I was inspired to create a space where people wouldn’t just experience the best Pilates in the city, but also genuinely enjoy being there. From the beginning, my vision was to make Pilates feel like a natural part of one’s lifestyle, not an added layer of complexity.

That meant removing the small frictions often associated with exercise: having to bring your own towel, rushing off without the chance to shower, or feeling unprepared for the rest of the day. I paid particular attention to the changing area, creating a beautiful, thoughtfully designed space with great facilities and curated products, including Meishai, so clients can comfortably transition from class to whatever comes next — whether it’s the day ahead or an evening out.

4. You are both a founder and a mother — two roles that require presence, energy, and care. How do you find balance between them in your everyday life?

I love being both a mother and a business owner. I opened the studio just two weeks after my second daughter was born, so in many ways, I consider the studio my third baby.

Balance isn’t about doing everything perfectly; it’s about being as present as possible in each role. I’m very fortunate to have a great team at the studio. Being able to rely on them makes it much easier to maintain that balance.

One of my favourite rituals is a quiet breakfast. After the morning drop-off, I stop by our neighbour, Coco Hotel, to enjoy breakfast and coffee before my first class. It’s a simple moment, but it helps me transition into the day feeling grounded and calm.

5. Meishai is part of your Pilates studio. Which product is your personal favourite — and why?

I love all Meishai products, but lately my personal favourite has been the Heat Protection spray. I have fine, soft hair, so it’s important to me that the products I use are very lightweight and don’t weigh my hair down — and this one feels effortless.

The fact that it’s fragrance-free is a bonus. After having children, I became much more sensitive to scents and now prefer to keep my self-care routine as simple and neutral as possible.
