PureWellness.dk has reviewed Meishai - Luxury Hair Care Products for Everyone

By Sladana Lazic

Behind Meishai – the relatively newly launched hair care products – is former hairdresser Katja Rosasco, who has more than 14 years of experience in the hair industry. Her products bear the Asthma Allergy Nordic label, one of the most recognized labels in the Nordic countries. This assures you as a consumer that the products meet high standards and do not contain allergenic or environmentally harmful substances. At the same time, no compromises have been made on quality, ingredients, or design in Meishai's product line.

I was not familiar with Meishai before I received the products. Upon researching the brand further, I discovered that these relatively new products are Danish-produced by former hairdresser Katja Rosasco. Katja Rosasco was born with allergies and struggled to find products that could meet her professional needs as a hairdresser and that she could tolerate using herself.

When I read that all the products are free from perfume, silicone, and sulfates, vegan, free of allergens and hormone-disrupting ingredients, I was very interested in testing them. I have personally suffered from scalp issues related to silicone and perfume, so the philosophy behind these products appealed to me.

My own experiences with various hair products also make me constantly on the lookout for good and effective alternatives to the super-hyped hair products that are otherwise known from hairdressing salons.

Meishai's product range currently consists of Shampoo, Conditioner, Treatment (hair mask), and Shower Gel. The products can be ordered individually or as a series under the name "The Meishai experience" or "Shower Pack". I was fortunate enough to test all the products as a set.

Meishai Shampoo is a mild and effective shampoo that cleanses the hair without stripping it of all the good oils that you naturally produce. It lathers and should be used twice, meaning you wash first once, rinse out the shampoo, and repeat the process again. The hero ingredient in the shampoo is Pentavitin, which cares for your scalp and helps maintain the skin's natural moisture balance. My hair has regained its shine and has really benefited from the shampoo for daily use, as I prefer not to skip a hair wash.

Meishai Conditioner is a velvety soft conditioner that lathers lightly. I am one of those who can't really feel the effect and distribution in the hair if the conditioner doesn't lather. Here too, the nourishing ingredients are at the forefront – ingredients like almond oil, glycerin, and Pentavitin. I prefer not to use conditioner on the scalp, but on the lengths of the hair after shampooing, after gently wringing out the excess water from my hair. It should sit for about 1-2 minutes before you rinse it out. It is very rich and really lovely. In my opinion, it is one of the best conditioners on the market.

Meishai Treatment is a hair mask that rebuilds, repairs, and strengthens your hair strands. The product description recommends using Treatment on damp hair after washing, letting the mask sit for 5-7 minutes, or even longer for a silky result. However, due to limited time in the morning, I have applied the mask in the evening and slept with it in my hair until the next morning when I had to wash my hair. I find it gives a nice and soft hair that is easy to detangle after washing. Moreover, it is a real treat to use the mask 1-2 times a week.

Meishai Shower Gel has worked wonders for my skin. Especially the winter-dry legs are a thing of the past now that I have switched to using Shower Gel. The main ingredients are glycerin, Pentavitin, vitamin B5, and aloe vera juice, making it excellent for cleansing and washing the skin while maintaining its natural moisture. I still prefer to use a body lotion afterward but love that it's not a strict necessity, as it was when I bought the slightly cheaper (still clean) shower gels.

Can we wish for a few upcoming products in the range?

If so, it would be a leave-in conditioner that you can dry your hair with and a body lotion. That would be the cherry on top of some really lovely products that I have become a huge fan of after a few weeks of use.

They are highly recommended, and before you fall off your chair at the price of the "The Meishai experience" set, which costs 999 DKK, all the products are very economical and last a long time. I have now used them for 3-4 weeks and feel both my hair and skin are thriving, and there is still plenty of product left in the bottles.

Finally, I must mention the sleek and understated design, which decorates any bathroom shelf. The products are some of the nicest I've had on display for a long time. They create a sense of calm in the decor and are the kind of products you want to show off.
