Meet Katja Rosasco - The Heart of Meishai

Meet Katja Rosasco - The Heart of Meishai

At the center of Meishai stands our founder, Katja Rosasco – a hairdresser and hairstylist with more than 15 years of experience, and a woman whose story is deeply interwoven with the essence of Meishai itself.

Born with allergies, Katja has always navigated the world of beauty with a heightened awareness of sensitivity and care. For her, hair has never just been about style – it has been about health, and the quiet confidence that comes when we dare to be ourselves.

Meishai was not born from a business plan, but from Katja’s own journey – where need met passion, and where care became creation. Today, her vision is clear: to show that high-performance haircare can be both allergy-friendly, fragrance-free and uncompromising in quality and design.

In our latest conversation with Katja, she reflects on what beauty truly means to her, how she adjusts her own routine as the seasons change, what inspired her to create Meishai, and the one piece of advice she wishes she could give her younger self.

Enjoy the full interview with Katja Rosasco – and step a little closer to the heart of Meishai.

1. What does beauty mean to you?
For me, beauty arises when we know who we are – and when we dare to be that.
When a person, a moment, or an expression does not try to be anything else, but simply arises as it is.
And if there is something I’ve learned, it’s that what kills beauty… is perfection.

2. As we move into autumn and the colder months – do you change anything in your own haircare routine? When the colder months arrive, I always adjust my routine a little.
The air becomes drier, and so does the hair – so I add more moisture and heat protection.

In winter, I actually blow-dry more often. Cold weather is not kind to air-drying – damp hair and the scalp can stay wet for too long, which can easily cause irritation, especially if you have sensitive skin like me. That’s why it can be healthier in the colder months to blow-dry your hair – to help scalp and hair dry faster.

So I reach for Meishai Heat Protection every time. For me, it’s the one product that makes blow-drying both safe and caring. If my hair needs extra care, I add 1–2 pumps of serum into the lengths together with the heat protection – the perfect combination for protecting while adding moisture. And once a week, I treat myself with Meishai Treatment – a little ritual that stays with me through every season.

3. You have always had a love for healthy hair – why does it mean so much to you?
I have always believed that healthy hair is the foundation of everything. For me, it’s never been about quick fixes or covering up, but about caring for the hair in a way that makes it strong, balanced, and able to shine on its own.

Maybe I’m just a Scandi girl at heart, but I’ve always felt that when the hair is healthy, you don’t need much more. I love the effortless look – and it’s simply easier to achieve when the hair is truly cared for.

That’s why every Meishai formula begins with the question: how can this product support the hair’s health first? Because when the hair is truly healthy, beauty follows naturally.

4. Who or what inspired you to start Meishai?
The idea for Meishai first came to me 16 years ago, when I was still a trainee in the salon. At that time, my allergies were crazy – and I kept feeling that something like Meishai was missing. As I always say: just because you have allergies doesn’t mean you stop appreciating good quality and beautiful design. Somehow, that thought never left me.

Meishai wasn’t born from a business plan, but from a feeling. From struggling with allergies, and from my deep love for hair and creativity. Meishai grew from that space – where need meets passion, and where care becomes creation.

5. If you could give your younger self one piece of advice – what would it be?
You are enough – you have always been, and you will always be.
