Meet Deimante Jukniene – Lithuania’s Curl Fairy and Conscious Hair Artist
Share
We’re honored to share this exclusive interview with Deimante Jukniene – a beloved hairdresser in Lithuania, known by many of her clients as “the curl fairy.”
After developing allergies from traditional hair dye, Deimante chose to reshape her career and now works exclusively with haircuts and treatments – always prioritizing health, honesty, and simplicity.
With years of experience and a deep understanding of natural texture, she has become a true master of curls. Her gentle hands and intuitive approach help clients embrace their own beauty – not by transforming them, but by enhancing what’s already there.
Her work is rooted in care – for hair, skin, and self – and her story is a quiet, powerful reminder of what beauty can look like when it’s guided by consciousness. We are proud to share this interview with a woman who inspires us deeply.
1. What does beauty mean to you?
To me, beauty is about authenticity.
It’s about embracing your individuality and even your imperfections – and turning them into something unique. I believe the time of everyone trying to look the same is slowly fading. Now more than ever, people are starting to look inward, to rediscover what makes them different – and that is where true beauty lies.
2. Can you share a little about your journey with allergies – when did it begin and how did you first notice that something wasn’t right?
My allergies started when I began coloring hair with chemical dyes.
That’s when I decided to stop – but I still loved working with hair, so giving it up wasn’t an option.
I started searching for alternatives that would allow me to stay in the profession without compromising my health.
That led me to hair care treatments instead of coloring, and I focused on finding products that are safer and more skin-friendly.
That’s how I discovered Meishai – a brand that aligned perfectly with my values and needs.
3. How has living with allergies changed the way you work as a hairdresser?
I honestly don’t know where I would be today in my journey as a colorist if I hadn’t been forced to stop working with hair dyes.
But my health has always been more important than anything else – you can’t buy it back, no matter how much money you have.
That’s why I didn’t hesitate to stop using products that were harming my well-being. And that decision led me to a much more conscious and intentional approach in choosing the products I now work with.
4. How has your experience been since switching to Meishai, and what impact has it had on your daily routine?
It’s been three months since I started using Meishai products, and I can honestly say – it’s one of the best discoveries I’ve made.
That feeling of purity and safety every time I use them is simply unmatched.
I’ve fully adapted to these anti-allergenic, fragrance-free, skin-safe products – and every time I use them, I feel grateful that I’m no longer irritating my sensitive skin.
Choosing Meishai has brought peace of mind and confidence to both my routine and my health. This is the feeling I want my clients to experience too – because they deserve products that truly care for them.
5. Do you already have a favorite Meishai product?
I truly love all Meishai products, but if I had to highlight one, it would be their newest product – the hair serum.
Nothing nourishes my curly hair quite like this serum.
I especially love how soft and smooth my curls feel after a night of letting the serum work its magic. It’s become an essential part of my routine – and my curls absolutely love it!
6. Why do you believe in using perfume-free, allergy-friendly products not just for yourself – but for your clients too?
We’ve all had enough of pretty bottles filled with strong fragrances and perfumes – products that cause allergies and stay in our bodies long after use.
It’s time to start choosing more consciously.
It’s no longer just about the packaging – it’s about what’s inside, and whether it truly helps your hair without harming your health.
This is the message I now share with my clients:
Hair products should not only be effective – they should also be safe to use.
7. Who or what inspires you in your craft and your understanding of beauty?
I find inspiration in many things – successful people, sunsets, the sea, sports, music I love… even my own clients who send kind messages and share their happiness with the results we’ve achieved together. But over time, I’ve realized that all of these sources of inspiration come down to two key values: health and longevity. Without them, nothing else would truly matter.
That’s why I believe it’s our responsibility to pay attention – to make choices that don’t harm us, but instead support our well-being in the long run.
